| The South River Before and After School Care Program (B.A.S.C.) was established to meet the demands of the families in South River. South River B.A.S.C. is licensed by and adheres to the policies and restrictions set forth by the State of New Jersey's Department of Youth and Family Services. South River B.A.S.C. is an "on-school-site" program which provides a safe before and after school alternative. |
| PROGRAM ELEMENTS |
| The B.A.S.C. program will provide a well-planned, flexible schedule of activities in a supervised environment. Children will be encouraged to select from a wide variety of activities including, but not limited to: indoor and outdoor play, games and sports, arts and crafts, rest/reading, and learning new skills and hobbies. Homework time and assistance is a part of the B.A.S.C. program. Children and parents will decide if homework is to be completed during B.A.S.C. Breakfast is provided for our A.M. students and a nutritious snack is offered in the afternoon. |
| HOURS OF OPERATION |
| AM: 7:00 A.M. until start of school day PM: end of school day to 6:00 P.M. (extended care available until 6:30 PM) We also offer a drop-in program that allows your child to attend B.A.S.C. on an "as needed" basis for a daily fee. |
| INCLEMENT WEATHER |
| On days when school is closed due to inclement weather, the B.A.S.C. program will also be closed. On days when there is a delayed opening, the A.M. B.A.S.C. program will also be delayed. In the case of an early dismissal due to bad weather, the P.M. program will be closed. |
| STAFF |
| All B.A.S.C. personnel is experienced and highly qualified. Our staff consists of both certified teachers and aides, all of whom are trained in First Aid and CPR. Although New Jersey state ratio requirements allow a maximum ratio of 18:1 (children to staff), the B.A.S.C. program adheres to a self-imposed ratio of 12:1 or better in order to best meet the needs of all enrolled children. |
