The B.A.S.C. program provides a well-planned, flexible schedule of activities in a supervised environment. Children are encouraged to select from a wide variety of activities including, but not limited to: indoor and outdoor play, games and sports, arts and crafts, rest/reading, and learning new skills and hobbies. Homework time and assistance is a part of the B.A.S.C. program. Children and parents will decide if homework is to be completed during B.A.S.C. A nutritious snack is offered in the afternoon. AM: 7:00AM until start of school day We also offer a drop-in program that allows your child to attend B.A.S.C. on an "as needed" basis for a daily fee. For the 2011-12 school year we will offer vacation days on an as-needed basis. Approximately one month prior to the day off, we will post a sign-up sheet. Children must be signed up for the day AND paid in advance-- $25 per child per day. If we have a minimum of ten children, we will offer the vacation care. If there are fewer than ten signed up, we will not offer the day. A decision will be announced two weeks prior to the day. On days when school is scheduled as a half-day, the B.A.S.C. program will just start earlier than usual when school dismisses. There is no additional charge for those days. On days when school is closed due to inclement weather, the B.A.S.C. program will also be closed. On days when there is a delayed opening, the A.M. B.A.S.C. program will also be delayed. In the case of an early dismissal due to bad weather, the P.M. program will be closed.
Tuition Schedule
The Valley Road Before and After School Care Program (B.A.S.C.) was established to meet the demands of the families in Stanhope. Valley Road B.A.S.C. is licensed by and adheres to the policies and restrictions set forth by the State of New Jersey's Department of Youth and Family Services. Valley Road B.A.S.C. is an "on-school-site" program which provides a safe before and after school alternative.

STAFF
All B.A.S.C. personnel are experienced and highly qualified. Our staff consists of both certified teachers and aides, all of whom are trained in First Aid and CPR. Although New Jersey state ratio requirements allow a maximum ratio of 18:1 (children to staff), the B.A.S.C. program adheres to a self-imposed ratio of 12:1 or better in order to best meet the needs of all enrolled children.
